The 2023 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting: Wisdom from Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger
After a suggestion from a dear client for the past few years, I finally decided to catch the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholder Meeting this year in Omaha, Nebraska. This is not a recommendation on the stock, but a suggestion to consider catching next year’s event, nicknamed “Woodstock for Capitalists.” This is a truly remarkable event, with people traveling to Omaha from all over the world to have a chance at hearing the wisdom and views of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger.
After returning from the trip, I was asked by several people about lessons learned, or any “gems” I took away. Two, in particular, come to mind: first, a quote from Warren on life advice: “Write your own obituary and live up to it.” I thought that was beautifully stated. Second, and a takeaway we plant to implement even more so in our conversations with clients: “Parents should make sure to go over their will with their adult kids.”
Finally, I thought it would be worth sharing a great video of Warren Buffett’s thoughts on investing in commodities from prior conferences. Watch it now!
